Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland Programs
July 19th - July 31st, 2024*
We are excited to offer this one-of-a-kind program designed to develop bold and empathetic leaders (15-18 years old) from across the nation. This program includes virtual weekly sessions (approximately 10 weeks) leading up to a trip to our Global Headquarters in New Hampshire. 100% of the program cost (including housing, travel, meals, activities, etc.) will be waived for all accepted applications.** This is a program that is only open to 10 individuals annually from across the country. Accepted applicants will have demonstrated that they are willing to put in the effort to improve themselves so that they can improve their communities. Applicants from all Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are eligible to apply.
This program will focus on leadership development including conflict transformation (personal and community), public speaking, communication, and identity. It is one of the most challenging youth leadership programs in the country and emphasizes resilience, empathy, and action. Participants will develop concrete skills and the confidence that will help them transform the world into a better place.
As a part of the application process, applicants will propose a Community Action Project idea. Through their advanced training before their Skill Building Phase, they will develop the skills to turn their project idea into a tangible and replicable project that addresses their unique community need. After their Skill Building Phase, participants finalize their project and implement it using the skills and resources they gained in the Community Building Phase.
See examples of Community Action Projects here.
*Dates are approximate and subject to change based on flight availability.
**Accepted applicants are responsible for the cost of their ESTA and passport.
FFI programs incorporate our RECIPE and are adapted to fit the interests of the individuals within each and every group.
The program will be around five months in length and will be split into three phases:
Team Building (approximately 10 weeks) - This phase will include virtual sessions that are 2 hours in length and one to two times a week. Participants will also begin working on their Community Action Projects.
Skill Building (2 weeks) - This phase is the Immersion Trip at the FFI Campus in New Hampshire.
Community Building (approximately 5 weeks) - This phase will include virtual sessions and self-guided assignments in order to complete the Community Action Projects.
For more detailed information about our phases, visit our Immersion Programs page.
There are a variety of qualities we are looking for in applicants and we encourage all to apply.
*All travel and in-person programming is subject to COVID restrictions and guidelines
