FFI’s Ireland/Northern Ireland Immersion Program brings together approximately 10 young people from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Participants complete residential experiences in both Northern Ireland and the United States, along with virtual programming and a Community Action Project.

The program is open to young people ages 15–18 from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

No. FFI welcomes applications from young people across the island of Ireland and seeks to create a team made up of participants with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and communities.

FFI typically accepts 10 participants per program.

Participants first complete a residential experience at the FFI Center in Annalong, Northern Ireland. They later travel together to FFI’s Global Headquarters in New Hampshire for an approximately two-week residential experience.

Yes. The Annalong and New Hampshire experiences are both important parts of the program, and accepted participants are expected to complete all required phases.

No. Previous international travel experience is not required. For some participants, the program may be their first time traveling internationally or away from home for an extended period. Participants do need a valid passport in order to travel.

FFI coordinates program travel and provides accepted families with detailed information before departure. Participants travel as a group as part of the FFI program rather than independently navigating the experience once the program begins.

FFI covers program-related travel, accommodations, meals, activities, and programming for accepted participants. Families are responsible for the costs associated with the participant’s passport and required ESTA.

Participants continue working with FFI as they finalize and implement a Community Action Project in their own community. Successful completion also gives participants FFI alumni status and access to future alumni opportunities.
